Numerous routes through wonderful natural landscapes at all altitudes make the biker’s heart beat faster. From tours through dreamy forests and lonely alpine meadows to crystal-clear mountain lakes at 2,000 meters above sea level, there is something for everyone. You can put your endurance to the test on the region’s crisp up and downhill stages. A large number of rustic alpine huts along the paths provide the perfect rounding off of an unforgettable mountain bike tour with local delicacies.
Against the backdrop of the majestic southern walls of the Dachstein, the sunny Ramsau plateau extends in the middle of the Schladming-Dachstein region at an altitude of 1,000 to 3,000 meters. A real Eldorado for climbing enthusiasts of all ages: 26 via ferratas and tours, including a children’s via ferrata and three youth via ferrata and “Kali’s via ferrata garden”, offer exciting opportunities for advancement.
Our holiday region also offers historical and breathtaking excursion destinations. UNESCO World Heritage Dachstein with suspension bridge and stairs to nowhere, Admont Abbey with the world-famous Abbey Library or Hallstatt are among the highlights. Other worthwhile destinations in the surrounding mountains and valleys are still waiting for your visit.
Up to 220 km of cross-country ski trails start on the doorstep. Around 70 km only for sporty skaters. There are around 30 huts and restaurants along the cross-country ski trails and winter hiking trails.
The four-mountain ski area includes Planai, Hauser Kaibling, Hochwurzen, Reiteralm, Rittisberg and the Dachstein Glacier. 123 km of slopes with just one card. And the ski bus is still free. The bus stop is approx. 100 m away.
For those who prefer to take a more relaxed approach to winter, Ramsau also offers a number of alternatives. Horse-drawn sleigh rides to rustic huts, winter hiking trails through snow-covered forests, toboggan runs down to the valley – and at the end there is always a Kaischerschmarrn and mulled wine. The forests and snow-covered meadows are ideal for snowshoeing on the Ramsau plateau.
Austria’s national ski tour leads over the Dachstein Glacier to Obertraun. Numerous other ski tours are possible from Ramsau am Dachstein. Either to the Ramsau alpine pasture area, to the neighboring Filzmoos or to the “Almen am Stein” with a view of the Böhmerwald and the Triglav massif.
